Iconic transmission franchise named to prestigious annual list of best-bet investments for the second consecutive year

For the second consecutive year, AAMCO, the world’s largest transmission franchise and an industry leader in total car care services, has been named to 2016 Franchise Gator’s Top 100 franchise concepts. The greater Philadelphia area-based company ranked No. 50 for the second year in a row. The annual ranking measures franchise opportunities based on several key factors, including financial stability, growth, transparency, continuity and sustainability.
“We’re pleased to be named to Franchise Gator’s Top 100 for the second consecutive year,” says Brett Ponton, CEO and president of AAMCO. “The automotive aftermarket industry is poised for continued growth, and this latest accolade only reaffirms AAMCO’s reputation as a market leader and a solid business partner in the automotive aftermarket industry.”
For more than 50 years, AAMCO’s network of locally owned and independently operated automotive service centers has employed the latest technology. Expert technicians diagnose a repair, fix it right the first time and back it with a nationwide warranty. Known as the world’s leading transmission expert, the company has evolved into a total car care brand that provides a variety of services including brake repair, tune-ups, shocks and struts, routine maintenance and more. AAMCO was named to Entrepreneur’s 2016 Franchise 500®, ranking #1 in category. Based on network size, growth rate and financial strength, the brand also earned a spot on Entrepreneur’s “Best of the Best” list. Additionally, AAMCO has been consecutively ranked on the Franchise Times Top 200+ for the last two years.
What makes AAMCO a best-bet investment?
While AAMCO has been a renowned franchise system for over 50 years, the iconic transmission franchise continues to make significant strides to increase system-wide profitability and simplify its proven business model. Under the leadership of Brett Ponton, AAMCO is halfway through a five-year strategic plan that began in 2014 and has led to some of the best years in its storied history as a franchise system. Today, running and scaling an AAMCO franchise is easier than ever before.
AAMCO made significant investments in technology, education and training to help AAMCO franchise owners grab a bigger slice of the general automotive repair market, which generates $62 billion a year in sales according to IBISWorld research. These investments have also driven profitability for franchisees and helped them earn trust by enhancing the in-store customer experience with initiatives such as consumer financing.
“The investments we have made thus far have increased system-wide confidence in our business model across the board,” says Brian O’Donnell, Senior Vice President of Franchise Development with AAMCO. At the end of summer 2016, we already had more deposits for new AAMCO centers than we did for the whole of 2015. The real positive of that is that more than 50% of the deposits for new AAMCO centers comes from existing franchise owners. They have experienced the simplified business model and initiatives designed to drive profitable growth in their centers. We’re really thrilled with the results so far.”
Bring the iconic auto repair franchise to your community
With nearly 650 auto repair franchise locations across the country, AAMCO has remained a dynamic part of American car culture — as well as a vibrant part of hundreds of local economies — since the brand began franchising in 1963.
AAMCO is actively seeking single- and multi-unit operators who are passionate about the brand and committed to providing the highest-quality service. Interested candidates should have a minimum net worth of $250,000 and liquid assets of at least $65,000 per unit. Depending on the real estate selected, franchisees can expect the total investment to be approximately $227,400-$333,000, with a $39,500 initial franchise fee. Reduced franchise fees are available for honorably discharged veterans. Since the auto repair franchise began offering a discounted pathway to veterans through its VetFran program in 2012, seven US veterans have joined the AAMCO franchise owner network.
